Founded in Lexington in November 1986, Joseph Beth Booksellers functions as a general-interest bookstore hosting public events, Storytimes, author signings, and community program. Joseph-Beth Booksellers is a community bookstore and restaurant organization featuring two store locations in Cincinnati, Ohio (Rookwood Pavilion) and Lexington, Kentucky (The Mall at Lexington Green). In October 2026, Barnes & Noble acquired Joseph-Beth Booksellers' two remaining storefronts and bistros. Joseph-Beth Booksellers will continue to preserve its independent identity, which has made it so special within the bookselling landscape for the last 40 years. We are looking for a professional line cook to prepare food to specifications. Line cook duties will consist of assisting the kitchen manager and other cooks with their daily tasks including setup and prep of all stations. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction.

• Set up stocking stations with necessary supplies
• Prepare food for service (chopping vegetables, butchering meats, or preparing sauces)
• Cook menu items to order in cooperation with FOH & BOH for seamless service
• Answer, report, and follow instructions & procedures
• Clean up station and take care of leftover food
• Stock inventory appropriately
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and timely manner
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and Guests
• Any additional duties the GM or Kitchen Manager assigns

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED preferred
• Flexible schedule, particularly for weekend/evening shifts - must work nights & weekends
• Proven cooking experience, including experience as line cook, restaurant cook, or prep cook
• Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedure
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
• Familiar with industry’s best practices
• Ability to work 6+ hours on your feet
